Car Racing Game Prototype using Unity3D

Well, once again writing about Unity3D, the latest good news is that now the engine is free but it has some restrictions (no dynamic shadows, shaders, etc). I recommend to everyone who is interested in developing games to download it, start to play, enjoy it!!.

The images above belongs to the actual version of a racing game prototype that I am working on in my free time. The demo has bugs and is not finished yet, but I want to show you the posibilities of Unity3D Pro and its dynamic shadow system. I hope you enjoy this demo, feel free to leave me any comments or suggestions.

My kid enjoyed driving “up in the mountains” says it’s “AWESOME”. What city kit are you using?

diamondTea: Im very glad your kid have fun with it. For the demo Im not using any city kit. I downloaded free models. Specifically the track model is from http://www.3dcadbrowser.com/preview.aspx?ModelCode=31 , I get it by uploading other model.

makc: The current version is 2.6.0. Im not sure wich version you have, but you could download the last version from http://unity3d.com/webplayer/.

I wonder if you would post some “mini tutorials” about doing simple things in Unity :P

@makc I had the same problem.. but it was with IE7, with Firefox I had no problems.

Quite a nice environment! I applaud your work. Although, one annoying thing is the fact that the car has a hard time staying in a straight line. It’s very slippy. I am interested to know what camera you used for this. Do you think you could tell me or send me the script? It’s a nice camera.
